Appointing teams of teachers to work with students with special educational needs
The study is a brief overview of the principles of the organization of psychological and pedagogical assistance, including the creation of teams of teachers appointed to work with a student with special educational needs, introduced by the ordinance of the Ministry of National Education of November 17, 2010 on the principles of providing and organizing psychological and pedagogical assistance in public kindergartens , schools and institutions.
Pursuant to § 19 sec. 2 in connection with § 4 sec.
1 of the Regulation of the Minister of National Education of 17 November 2010 on the principles of providing and organizing psychological and pedagogical assistance in public kindergartens, schools and institutions (Journal of Laws No. 228, item 1487) – hereinafter referred to as PPP, organizing, including creating team of teachers, it is the responsibility of the head of the kindergarten, school and institution.
The provisions of the r.p. do not define a special procedure for appointing a team of teachers.
A team of teachers working with a student should be considered all teachers who carry out educational tasks with students at all stages and at all levels of education (in subsequent classes), on subjects conducted in accordance with the framework curricula, with subjects resulting from the core curricula and conducting additional classes, as well as specialists conducting activities, e.g. corrective-compensatory or revalidation.
- Teachers and specialists, while conducting their classes, monitor the didactic progress, talents and interests of students on an ongoing basis, and recognize educational needs. They should therefore cooperate.
- When the teacher signals the headmaster that the student needs help, then all those who conduct the classes meet to analyze the student’s situation and indicate the most desirable forms of help.
The head of the kindergarten, school and facility, immediately after receiving information on the student’s identified special educational needs, initiates a team meeting of the entire team conducting classes with the child.
Student in order to organize the necessary forms of assistance in the best possible way
For a student with special educational needs, who does not have a decision or opinion of a psychological and pedagogical counseling center, the director creates a team immediately after the teacher, educator of the educational group or specialist informs him about the need to provide the student with psychological and pedagogical assistance (§ 19 section 2 point 2 of the PPP).
On the other hand, for a student who has a certificate of the need for special education, a certificate of the need for individual compulsory one-year pre-school preparation, a decision about the need for individual teaching or an opinion of a psychological and pedagogical counseling center, including a specialist counseling center, the director creates a team of teachers immediately after receiving the decision or opinion, the director of the kindergarten, school and facilities (§ 19 section 2 point 1 of the PPA).
