During the training, we will familiarize participants with the legal aspects of the organization of special education and psychological and pedagogical support in a kindergarten / mainstream school.

The article provides a short overview of the Lithuanian special education system – institutions educational: their purpose and place in general education and specialist support implemented in schools and special centers.

Pupils while they reflect on their future and life prospects aftergraduating from school

Research on the quality of education and educational support in special schools
and special education centers. The aim of the research was to define the perspectives of
lifelong learning for pupils with special educational needs.

In the study a mixed methodology was used, i.e. a combination of quantitative research methods and qualitative.

The quantitative study covered 317 pedagogues and specialists working people in special schools and special education centers. Participants of the
quality dishes former directors of educational institutions (N = 12); educators and specialists students supporting students (N = 37); students (N = 32); parents of students (N = 45)- from four selected special education institutions intended for students with
special educational needs.

Pupils while they reflect on their future and life prospects aftergraduating from schoolThe collected material shows that educators special people believe that they help students and parents decide about future perspectives students, support their motivation to learn, and develop required competences for lifelong learning; even declare that they develop individual programs we are teaching for students (although this is not a common practice in Lithuanian schools).

Parents, on the other hand, are not aware of what prospects are available to them
after graduating from a special school, children do not see the possibility of acquiring skills
required for a specific profession, especially in a vocational school
it is far from the house and long distances have to be covered.
