It is important that the toys have all their pieces, are in good working condition, and are washable, which mean many plush stuffed animals are not accepted. Many Lekotek programs include Compuplay, a computer-based play program that includes assistive technology and other devices. Other Lekoteks incorporate computer play activities into their play sessions. Computers are also necessary for the administration of a Lekotek site. Thus, there is always a need for updated computer hardware and software.

Lekoteks are non-profit organizations that accept financial contributions in order to purchase new toys buy adapted equipment and defray the cost of providing services to families.
