Lekotek provides therapeutic play services to children with disabilities, ages birth -8 years old and their families. Lekotek supports and respects the entire family unit by welcoming parents, siblings and other family members to participate in the individual family play sessions. These sessions create a safe and relaxed place where the whole family plays and learns together.

Family involvement is a crucial component of the play sessions because children learn social behaviors by observing and imitating others. Families work together with the Family Play Specialist to identify goals. Together parents and the play specialists can develop play strategies that focus on those goals. The experience and ideas the family receives from the play sessions are carried over to home life. This consistency in approach leads to greater individual success.
